The Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners was created in 1977 to promote, preserve, and protect the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of West Virginia by licensing individuals who use ionizing radiation as medical imaging professionals. The Board is funded by license application fees. West Virginia Code ยง30-23-1 authorizes the Board to regulate the following professions:

  • Radiologic Technologists
  • Radiation Therapists
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologists
  • Nuclear Medicine Apprentice Technologists
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Apprentice Technologists
  • Podiatric Medical Assistants

The Board's Mission is to be the driving force behind the highest quality imaging and radiation safety standards in West Virginia through the licensure of educationally prepared and clinically competent professionals. The Board's Vision is to ensure public safety through a highly skilled and qualified workforce across the entire state of West Virginia providing quality imaging and radiation therapy services in every community and clinical setting.


Attention Nuclear Medicine Technologists

Apply for Non Diagnostic and Diagnostic CT License at Online Applications under New or Additional License Types.

Diagnostic CT requirements are either ARRT or NMTCB CT Certification.

Non Diagnostic CT requirements are transcripts with documented CT Education or completion of a Board approved CT Course.
