Welcome
Founded in 1977, the Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners is dedicated to safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of West Virginia residents. It achieves this by licensing professionals who use ionizing radiation in medical imaging and radiation therapy. The Board establishes licensure standards statewide and serves as the regulatory authority to ensure compliance with its rules and guidelines. Comprising nine members appointed by the Governor, the Board operates independently and is fully financially self-sustaining, without reliance on taxpayer funding. The Board's Mission is to be the driving force behind the highest quality imaging and radiation safety standards in West Virginia through the licensure of educationally prepared and clinically competent professionals. The Board's Vision is to ensure public safety through a highly skilled and qualified workforce across the entire state of West Virginia providing quality imaging and radiation therapy services in every community and clinical setting.
